♥ Your Body Bestie
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
The short version. Your Body Bestie is a personal food, activity and cycle tracker. Your information is yours. We don’t sell it, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use tracking or analytics tools. By default everything stays on your own device. If you choose to create an account, a copy is saved securely so it syncs across your devices.
Who we are
Your Body Bestie (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a web app at bodybestie.com. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What the app stores
Only what you choose to enter or connect:
- The name you want to be called by.
- Your food diary, meals, recipes, water and the foods you create or scan.
- Your activity and workouts, and steps if you bring them in from Apple Health.
- Body measurements such as weight, height, goal weight and other measurements you choose to track.
- Cycle information (period dates and cycle length), if you choose to use that feature.
- Your goals and settings.
- Progress photos, if you add any. Photos stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. They are only included in backup files that you save yourself.
Some of this is health-related information, which we treat as sensitive. It is used only to run the features you see in the app.
Where it is kept
On your device (default). Without an account, your information is kept in your browser’s storage on your own device. Clearing your browser data, or deleting the app from your Home Screen, can remove it, so the app offers a backup file you can save.
In your account (optional). If you create an account, a copy of your app information (everything above except progress photos) is stored on servers run by our database provider, Supabase, so you can use the app on more than one device. It is protected so that only you, signed in to your own account, can read or change it.
Signing in
- Email and password: we store your email address and a protected (hashed) version of your password.
- Sign in with Google: Google tells us your email address and name. We don’t get access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive or any other Google data.
Community food library
When you scan a barcode or read a nutrition label for a product, then log it, and the product isn’t found online, the app can add it to a shared food library so other people can find it too. What is shared: the product name, barcode and nutrition numbers. Your name, email address and diary are not shared. Each entry is linked to an anonymous account ID, not to your name or email, so the app can tell when two different people entered matching numbers.
You can turn sharing off at any time in Profile → Community foods. Foods you shared are deleted if you delete your account. Anyone can report a food with wrong numbers.
Friends and sharing
Friends is optional and only works if you have an account. Nothing is shared until you open Friends or Sharing & privacy, which creates a small friends profile: your first name (as you entered it), a friend code such as BEL-4827 and your sharing settings.
You choose what friends can see, with a separate switch for each: Workouts (name, time, exercises, sets and reps), Activities (such as walks, cardio, stepper and recovery, with minutes and key stats), and Steps & streaks (a daily step goal and streak milestones). Weights lifted and Food log are on by default, and you can switch either off at any time in Sharing & privacy; with weights off, friends see exercises, sets and reps but no weights. With Food log on, friends see what you log today (the meal, the foods and their calories, carbs, fat and protein). The Friends feed shows today’s posts, and earlier food posts are removed. Only new entries you log after turning sharing on are posted. If you edit or delete an entry, the shared post is updated or removed. You can switch any type off, which removes those posts, or pause sharing to hide everything from friends.
Your cycle, life stage, symptoms, mood, body measurements, weight, progress photos and notes are never shared with friends, and your food diary is only shared if you turn on Food log. The app does not send the private items to the shared tables.
People can only see you once you both accept a friend request. Looking up a friend code only returns a first name. Friends can react to a post with an emoji and copy a shared workout to their own routines. You can remove a friend at any time, which stops them seeing your posts. Shared posts and reactions are deleted if you delete your account.

What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your information.
- We don’t show ads or share your information with advertisers.
- We don’t use analytics, tracking pixels or advertising cookies.
- We don’t use your health or cycle information for anything other than showing it back to you in the app.
We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- See and change your information any time in the app.
- Download a copy with Profile → Backup & restore.
- Sign out at any time. Your data stays on that device unless you clear it.
- Delete everything: in your account settings, choose “Delete my account and cloud data”. This permanently deletes your account, the cloud copy of your data and any foods you shared. It can’t be undone. Data kept on your own device is removed by clearing the app’s browser data.
- You can also email us to ask for access, correction or deletion.
Keeping your information safe
The app uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and each account’s data is protected so only that account can read it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your phone locked.
Children
The app is not designed for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Not medical advice
Your Body Bestie is a tracking tool. Its numbers, estimates and cycle predictions are for general information only and are not medical advice. Talk to a health professional about your health.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
